The trickiest issue is how to maintain a balance between protecting our quality of life, our unique blend of cultures and exceptional natural beauty, while simultaneously providing a vibrant economy that gives our residents the ability to afford to live in this very expensive place. Several affordable housing projects have been approved and never built. I’m committed to extracting developer-promised affordable housing and jobs creation. Affordable housing is a very pressing quality of life issue. Our homeless situation is a stark reminder that families cannot find affordable places to rent, let alone purchase. My own emphasis is to continue to develop the workforce housing requirements and make it more applicable and reasonable.
