What qualifies you to represent the people of Hawaii?

My experience serving on the Council representing District 8, North Kona, for the last 6 years and my previous experience working for the former Council Member for North Kona as well as my history of community organizing.

Prior to being elected I was part of a team of like-minded individuals working to protect the shoreline at Kohanaiki and 'O'oma. Our efforts led to 2 landmark Supreme Court victories regarding upholding the Constitutional rights of Native Hawaiians, the protection of cultural practices and public trust resources and a legislative victory to require Cultural Impact Statements for all future large development in the State of Hawaii. Our efforts also led to the creation of the Shoreline Park at Kohanaiki and the purchase of the conservation lands at 'O'oma with the County's 2% Land Fund.

What are the top three challenges facing the voters you seek to represent?

Affordable housing
Infrastructure improvements
Protecting our precious natural and cultural resources

If elected, what will be your highest legislative priority?

Protecting our water quality and making sure progress is made towards the completion of Ane Keohokalole Highway, Phase 3.

If elected, what can you do to improve the lives of your constituents?

Continuing to advocate for the upgrades to Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant, moving forward on the construction of the Kealakehe Regional Park and Ane Keohokalole Highway Phase 3, and supporting new affordable housing projects closer to work opportunities in Kona.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am running unopposed for my 4th and final term on the Hawaii County Council and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to continue my service to the community.
