What qualifies you to represent the people of Hawaii?

I am an environmental advocate who served on the board of Maui Tomorrow Foundation. I organized community to document ill effects of cane burning on South Maui’s kids through the Clean Air for Keiki campaign. I started Kihei 4th Friday Town Party in 2011, Maui’s most robust and successful monthly community gathering. I have run our small business for 18 years growing by 8 times since 2000. I have been paying my staff a $15 minimum wage for 3 years.

What are the top three challenges facing the voters you seek to represent?

1. Housing: affordable rentals, and shelter for the houseless. 2. Environmental issues: clean air, clean water & healthy reefs. 3. Get Kihei’s public high school built.

If elected, what will be your highest legislative priority?

I would like to work on fscal accountability of state departments and a reorganization of DoH and DoA to better serve our communities. Many functions would be better served by create a HI EPA.

If elected, what can you do to improve the lives of your constituents?

I would like to realize a basic human right to shelter for our houseless populace. I would like to help create safe streets for pedestrians and bikers. I would like to help create a state single payer healthcare system. I would like to promote a $15.00 minimum wage.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a ocean recreation enthusiast who wants to protect our natural resources for the next generation. I rescue orphaned animals, accepting the most difficult cases.
