What qualifies you to represent the people of Hawaii?

I have served in the Hawaii Legislature for 19 years and with the City and County for 8 years. Over 100 of my bills and resolutions have passed showing an ability to get things done. I also served in leadership positions as Senate vice-president and Senate majority leader. My 12 years in the private sector and over 25 years of community service add to my extensive and diverse background and experience.

What are the top three challenges facing the voters you seek to represent?

Cost of living which includes cost of housing, ending homelessness, and the need to improve and fund our public school system are the top three issues facing Hawaii's residents.

If elected, what will be your highest legislative priority?

My highest priority is building affordable housing on all our islands.

If elected, what can you do to improve the lives of your constituents?

I will work to lower taxes of the middle class and low income and find alternative sources of revenue.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have been intimately involved with many of the major issues facing our state including but not limited to banning sunscreen with oxybenzone to protect our reefs, police reform, robotics in schools, gun control, prison reform, building Hawaii's medical cannabis program, safe zones for the homeless, banning the pesticide chlorpyrifos, growing our aerospace industry, and promoting Hawaii's culture and arts scene.
